Home Care Qualifications

Home Care is a non medical care given at the client’s home. Agencies like these can offer a wide range of services including: Homemaking Task, Medication Reminders, Companionship, Personal Care, Meal Preparation and many more.

Home Care is for you or for your loved ones if regular daily life activities are getting increasingly difficult daily and you need assistance. It doesn’t mean you need medical attention right away, you just need a little assistance here and there since you cannot be left alone on your own. When your family caregiver isn’t always available, we can provide you with companionship and home care assistance as well.

How do we determine when it’s time to hire home care service?

Here are the warning signs:

  • When an elderly has mobility issues it can lead to fall and injury. About 50% of our clients have history of falls thus requiring home care service in order to maintain safety in their own home. We recently provided a caregiver to a client who fell, was on the floor for 3 days before she was found.
  • Disinterest in personal health. A son of our client who is an 85 year old elderly woman is grateful that his mother has bounced back from severe dehydration and malnutrition after a few weeks of home care service. On the initial assessment, his mother who is 5’2 tall, only weighed 85 lbs., was frail, very weak and confused. Now, she is mentally alert, her weight has increased to 100 lbs. because the caregiver has been serving her nutritious meals.
  • Disinterest in personal care. If an elderly wears the same soiled clothes every day, refuses to bathe or change; this is a red flag. Lack or poor personal hygiene can lead to serious illness such as urinary tract infection, bladder infection and cellulitis.
  • Loss of Mental Acuity. When an elderly starts being more forgetful, confused, sleeps most of the time, forgets to take medications on time, this situation seriously requires home care service.
